Do You Want To Switch To Slow Cosmetics Mode With Natural Tooth Care? Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Tips For Whiter Teeth, Stock Up On Good Ideas…

SHOULD WE FLEE CONVENTIONAL TOOTHPASTES AND ADOPT NATURAL TOOTH CARE?

In some cases, a conventional toothpaste is helpful. But very often, alas, some conventional toothpastes contain controversial substances for health or the environment such as:

  •  nano-sized titanium dioxide , suspected of being carcinogenic, weakening the immune system or causing type 2 diabetes

  • triclosan suspected of being an endocrine disruptor increasing the risk of cancer

  • fluoride ,  an endocrine disruptor also suspected, which would also disrupt the immune system

  • glycerin which can accelerate tooth decay

  • and many others…

THE IMPORTANCE OF BRUSHING

Before talking about toothpaste, you should know that it is the action of brushing your teeth that is fundamental for your oral hygiene and that the product used is only secondary. It is recommended to brush your teeth properly after each meal or at least twice a day.

Equipped with a toothbrush with soft bristles (if possible in natural materials), carry out these 3 simple steps:

  1. Operate a rolling movement with the brush from the gum to the outside of the tooth (i.e. rather from bottom to top), three or four times per group of teeth,

  2. Brush the chewing surfaces (the hollow of your teeth) with a back and forth motion from back to front about ten times per group of teeth.

  3. Finally, brush the tongue from back to front to eliminate bacteria and ensure fresh breath.

WHICH TOOTHPASTE TO USE FOR NATURAL HEALTHY TEETH?

>> “HOME-MADE” TOOTHPASTES

There is a lot of talk about baking soda in natural teeth care, but be aware that its use should not be daily or risk having too abrasive an action. The same goes for white clay, which is softer but also abrasive.

Here are some toothpaste recipes without baking soda:

  1. White clay toothpaste:

  • 1 tablespoon of white clay for its antibacterial and cleansing, remineralizing action

  • 1 tablespoon of calcium carbonate (very fine white powder from your pharmacist)

  • 1 very small pinch of salt for cleaning and salivating (optional)

  • 2 drops of peppermint essential oil or organic lemon essence with anti-infective properties and for fresh breath (optional)

Mix everything and store in a jar. Put a little powder obtained on your previously moistened toothbrush. All you have to do is brush! (Alternate this recipe with a clay-free one as this can weaken tooth enamel when used year-round.)

1. Coconut oil toothpaste:

Place coconut oil (organic and cold extracted) directly on the toothbrush, deodorised or not depending on your taste, it is antibacterial. You can add a drop of essential oil of lemon or peppermint for an even fresher breath!

2. Water-based toothpaste… and yes!

We can never say it enough: health comes from within! So if you have a healthy diet (neither too sweet nor too salty), you can very well resort to punctual brushing with water and saliva, while maintaining excellent oral hygiene and low dental plaque. Indeed, saliva is antibacterial. Good to know about this: do not swallow the first saliva in the morning because it is full of bacteria!
